Grant at Nottoway Court House

Nottoway County Historical Association at Nottoway Court House and Presbyterian Church: A vast array of artifacts will be on display including original deed books damaged by Union forces and several firearms. Civil War historians will be available to answer questions pertaining to the occupation of Nottoway Court House by General Grant on April 5, 1865.  The presentation will take place at Nottoway Court House, and will be held at both the actual courthouse, built circa 1839, and at the Nottoway Presbyterian Church. There will be a presentation describing that memorable day, when General Grant occupied the town in pursuit of General Lee’s army.
