The Battle of Appomattox Station and Lee’s Defeat

  • Appomattox Court House National Historical Park (map)

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park:  Park rangers will offer a variety of interpretive programs each day telling the stories of the Appomattox Campaign, the Battles of Appomattox Station, and Appomattox Court House that led to the surrender of Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia.  Some programs are told in real time.

In addition, the park will offer printing demonstrations of parole passes issued to Confederate soldiers to provide them safe passage home after the surrender.  An education station will feature interactive displays of soldier life, period children’s games, and an opportunity to participate in the park’s Junior Ranger Program.
